Anand Upalekar & Associates is a well-established architectural practice that has been delivering dynamic projects since 1975. Our Pune based office is experienced in working closely with a range of clients to design clean and efficient building solutions. Our particular strengths are in the educational, sports and industrial sectors with several landmark projects under our belt. We are registered valuers and the chosen valuation agency for a number of banks and developers. Our other services include architectural consultation and expertise in Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics for development projects.
About Anand Upalekar
(Principal Architect & Designer)
Having become a qualified architect in 1971, I worked in New Delhi with renowned functionalist architect Acchyut Kanvinde at Kanvinde Rai & Chowdhury, gaining my foundations there.
In 1975, I set up my own practice in Pune and have since had the opportunity to work across sectors on several well- known educational, industrial and public sector projects.
I have been fortunate to get the opportunity to travel widely and explore various traditional design systems including Japanese design and Nubian mud architecture, introduced to me by the renowned Egyptian architect Fathy Hassan himself.
A respect for diverse local traditional practices and crafts is evident in our designs, particularly those of public memorials and monuments.
Apart from my extensive experience as an architect, I have also been deeply involved in remote sensing, geographic information systems, and map making.
We produced the Green Map of Pune, the first Green Map in Asia that documents places of environmental, cultural and public importance in the city of Pune using a global system. I initiated formation of the Pune chapter of Indian Society of Geomatics (part of Space Application centre - ISRO ) and served as its Secretary from 2000 - 2002.
Today our practice continues to specialise in the planning and development of a variety of projects across sectors.
